GUIDE – Replacing Selespeed pump motor brushes

Project Description

I’ve started this with the motor removed from the car and the pump section taken off, but the pump can remain on the motor if you wish. The pump motor is located at the same side that you fill up with your “selespeed oil ”

Bend the tangs out a little to allow the motor sections to be separated

Slide in the new brush, hold in the spring behind it and position the fork back down at the end to hold them both in…

Cut the old brushes off and solder on the new ones to the wires…

Put the 2 halves of the motor back together ensuring the wires align with the slot in the case…, Knock the case tangs back into place and test the motor with a 12V source.

Refit the pump assembly to the car and enjoy the £250 – 350 you just saved.
